Suzy, yes I'm going to try different backgrounds, because I have quite a few light coloured necklaces using pearls and crystals, so lots of experimenting ahead I think!
I would prefer to photograph them differently tbh, just looking straight down on them and clicking, doesnt do a lot for me, but the focus is a bit hit and miss if I try anything creative!
I spose it would be a huge help if I could find the camera manual!
I got the clasps from the Silver Corporation, I think they look nice with the swirly lampwork beads.

Oh Nia, I love what you did with the beads!
And the photograph is a good, useful photograph. When we can't get our mitts on a peice, the next best thing is a really good, clear photo where we can see all aspects of it. And your photo does that perfectly, It doesnt leave us wondering what the clasp is like, or what this bead is or that.
That is the trouble with the more creative shots - as you say, they tend to often be a trade-off where you will lose focus on some areas in order to highlight other parts of the peice. The more I do of photography for my beads and jewellery, the more i hate it and just wish I had a photography monkey to do it all for me!
Anyway - I'm off to bed now, after a less than good day and just thought I would pop in to check on UK Beaders and I have to say you have all warmed my little cockles with this thread. Us beadmakers are such vain little diva's arent we! But seriously, all of your kind comments about my beads has really lifted my spirits tonight - so glad I popped in. Thank you!
Emma

Cheers Bev, glad you approve! Its def. not down there with my cheap'ncheerfuls! Seriously though, its lovely to be making pieces like this in some quantity now, not just the occasional one here and there.
I've deliberately kept it simple and unfussy cos its what sells best round here. If I was keeping them for myself, I might have been tempted to make something more elaborate, but I cant afford them!!!
But I do think that with lampwork beads such as these, too much fuss would detract from them rather than enhance them. My aim really is for people to look at a necklace such as this one and actually to be able to picture themselves wearing it, not, as one customer said to me before Christmas when I was at a big event, "its all very well being able to wear those glamorous jazzy necklaces if you look like a sexy model, I'm just an ordinary person who wants a nice necklace that makes me feel a bit special".
Wise words I think when it comes to making pieces you want to sell!
