I was thinking of starting an Etsy Alchemy (a kind of open commission process, its fun!) but thought I'd check here first.
I've completely given up on trying to get long skinny boxes for bookmarks, so I wonder if somebody is up to the challenge of making long, skinny organza bags instead?
The actual pouch section needs to be around 16cm x 4cm minimum, and I'd initially be looking to buy up to about 50 ... and I reckon there'd be a few other people wanting some too.
Over to you ...

What size bookmarks are they? I use bracelet boxes, they measure approx. 21.5cmx4cm. They hold the longish bookmarks with plenty of space to spare. See pic. I like the sound of organza bags though.

Hi Nia
Its the Wiggle bookmarks like you're showing there. I used to use boxes with a clear lid but I haven't been able to get any for months so I've given up now.
I really fancy the organza bag idea, which hopefully, will be cheaper than boxes too.
A lady bought 10 bookmarks from me last week and has asked for bags, but I think they look dreadful rattling round in big bags, or sticking out the top of small ones! _________________ Julie :0)

Hi Nia
Do you mind me asking where you got these boxes from? I am looking for some that size for Crimbo. _________________ Kelly x

Bingo! These take them.
They are gorgeous too. Give me a while and I'll find out where I got them from.

Kelly - I get the boxes from International Craft, great for bookmarks, and surprisingly, bracelets too!
Julie - the organza bags come from Ancient Wisdom

It's a massive series of sites, and they have a fab selection of organza bags as well as tons of other things that are useful to us - tissue paper, carrier bags, bubblewrap, oh heaps and heaps of stuff!
I put in a big order a few months ago, and got sent a load of freebies too - so if anyone wants insense sticks, holders, new age music cd's etc etc, just give me a shout. Please!

Lovely site, Nia, thanks for posting that. Browsing around there, I did find some boxes that might do, Julie, if you still want boxes: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |

Nia - those bags too beautiful! and too expensive and actually, still too wide
Great boxes, Lesley, thank you - but shipping and "tax" add another whopping £10 to the cost!
Carmen - I looked at all the bags on your link, but I do still prefer the skinny organza idea.
I know I've been spoilt with the prices at yourorganzabag but I'm hoping to get something for under 20p each.
Maybe I'll have to whip out my sewing machine! _________________ Julie :0)

Hi Julie just to say my friend and I tried making organza bags a few months ago and to be quite frank it wasnt worth the hassle. Buying the organza cutting it, pressing prior to sewing, threading ribbon and finishing off took ages. Must say it was cheaper to buy them but obviously not the shape you want

It might not be worth your while but I wonderwhether you could make long skinny bags from wide ribbon. |

That's a really good idea, no ironing issues if the ribbon is on a reel and you could just do a foldover flap to tuck in rather than drawstrings.
Julie, they would rattle up in no time _________________ Carolyne
