This cane and the bracelet are from a Nanetta Bananto book, using Kato clay to try it out before the Clay Carnival:

Some of my Kato striped cane beads on cord with sliding knots:

These are gorgeous. The blue ones make me think of whales?????(no I don't know why either)

What did you think of Kato clay??? I have only used fimo clasic so i would love to hear some opinions on other brands.

Those are both gorgeous!

I love the rose cane. Very Mackintosh-ey!

Was it the new formulation Kato clay you used. I would be keen to hear your thoughts on it too. Does it smell as bad as the old Kato clay?

Those are lovely, what a beautiful cane - and you've managed to put it on your beads without it distorting which is the bit I always struggle with. Those blue stripes are gorgeous too!

The Kato clay smells strong but I rather like the smell Mr. Green

I think the new and the old seem the same - the clay at the Carnival was just as hard to condition as the clay I got from the Polymer Clay Pit before I went, which was the slightly larger blocks - I assume the old formula. We all found the Kato really hard to condition, in particular the cerise one. I won't get any more once I have used it all up - I ended up with quite a lot left over. I don't think I ever got any really properly malleable.

It didn't smear at all smoothing cane slices onto the beads but I think you'd have to be seriously dedicated to want to use it all the time! I have also had problems with beads cracking, which I have never had with Fimo.

Wow I don't know anything about Polyclay beads, and I have no idea how you achieve those wonderful effects, but these are really gorgeous! (and I know where you're coming from with the whale thing Cherie! Very Happy )

Thumbs up

Sarah
