Oh at last I havemanaged to teach myself two chain mail weaves....ok, for most of you this sounds silly but I am SO chuffed that at last I can do shaggy loops and byzantine!! yey! I have struggled for so long with chain mail and really wanted to be able to do it as it looks so pretty!!

I was sent the beads for 'Bead' magazines bead soup article about three weeks ago and thought it would be a good chance to have a go at some bits and bobs I'd been wanting to get down to and have a go at. I've used most of them and had some seed beads left and some czech glass oval beads too.....well I had to have a go! So, with the seed beads I did a shaggy loops bracelet and with the czech glass ovals I have done a byzantine bracelet! Ooooh yey! I will try and get some phots on my blog but just had to share it with you.

I used the tutorial posted by someone on this forum...can't remeber who:

Well done Joanne! Byzantine was the very first thing I ever made, and I remember thinking "did I really make that?"

Haha thanks, I know...my OH said "Wow, that looks complicated, I can't believe you made that!" It's not as bad as it sounds as I am hamfisted and don't do delicate, intricate, patience! Haha!

I love looking at your stuff Lynne and now hopefully I will be able to make some too!

I found that tutorial so easy to follow I had to share it Thumbs up

I m now also working my way through lots of different beginner weaves - even the beginner weaves look really impressive!
Last night I did the Mobius Rosettes bracelet from the Chain Mail Jewelry book - it starts with Euro 4-in-1 which I always get wrong and have to unpick but it looks pretty good now!

Off to see what size rings I have so I can follow some of the other patterns in that book.

Congrats on tackling that chain! It is a very beautiful one and very versatile. I have david's chain maille book and it is totally worth it. No only does it teaches you how to make the chains, it really teaches you about everything regarding chain maille, the sizes, materials and some other stuff I had no idea about, my favorite part is making forged clasps which I use a lot with my wire work as well.
