to put up a photo of the tiny origami cranes I make, and rather than go off-topic there I thought I'd post it here instead:

(click to see it a bit bigger)

The first one from the left is from a half inch square of paper, the second is 3/4 of an inch and the third is an inch square. The piece of paper is a half inch square too. When I fold cranes on the bus and generally out and about the inch size is usually the one I fold- from paper torn from bus tickets or old receipts and the like, whatever's going. To fold the 1/2 inch on I need something with a small point (I used the tip of some nail scissors today) to hold it down while I do the last folds. The 3/4 one I can do without 'assistance' though. The inch size is my favourite because it's small enough to look pretty without being so small that it's hard to get the folds crisp enough for the features to look good.

For a better sense of scale:

You really will have to click that one to see the bigger version Daisy

Oh, and apologies for the random clutter on my desk Embarassed I'm not a naturally tidy person...

I like making cranes too - I love the 1000 cranes tradition!

Have you seen them done in PMC sheet - very pretty as charms.

No, I've never seen them done in anything except paper and

! I'd love to be able to incorporate them into jewellery but paper isn't really durable enough even with varnish and so on. I've never worked with PMC, though. I bet they look gorgeous.

They are lovely, so small and delicate.

I can picture them in silver - they would be very nice.

Oh I adore these and all that they stand for, you must have the most delicate fingers ever, I could only ever mange clumpy great ones that somehow looked a lot like mangy seagulls

Shocked

What amazingly dextrous fingers you must have got! They are incredible!

It reminds me that my Chinese DIL made some cranes when we were on holiday with them last year - we are off to the L District with them in a couple or three weeks and on the wet days Mr. Green I will ask her to show me how to do it....wonder how small she can make them!
