I'm hoping some of you here can answer some questions I have about thread zappers- I hate wispy thread ends, but there's no way I'm going to take a lighter anywhere near my beadwork, as per some instructions that I've read. I'm sure I'd end up burning everything except the bit I wanted melting as I'm a pretty clumsy person.

So, my questions-

Do they work well, and are they worth having?

How easy are they to use- could a clumsy person with a tendency to butterfinger things use one without causing too much damage to the rest of the beadwork and any other assorted possessions lying around nearby?

Thanks Daisy

I have got one. I used it only when I used Nymo. I have found since going over to KO, that I haven't even thought about it at all. When I did use it, it was very easy and did what "it said in the tin"

i haven't heard of thread zappers as such, but on a larger scale:

I use satin cord rat tail and some melted brilliantly when I approached a candle flame, giving a satisfying blobby end. On the other hand, rat tail from another source went on fire leaving a horrid black stump, so I would say have a test with whatever thread you use and see how it reacts to heat - and have a bowl of water ready in case it is highly flammable. Shocked

Yes, they really do work. We are waiting on a delivery of them. My 'new best friend' Laura McCabe uses one all the time, and she uses Fireline; just makes the ends disappear into the beadwork. You can also use it for 'cutting' the thread if you don't have scissors handy. Keep out of reach of kids!
